The sector in which 5G-CAR operates is made up of almost 2000 companies and 136,000 employees in the production of automotive components on a national scale, with a turnover of 38.8 billion euros. Specifically in the Emilian territory, the basin has more than 200 companies (surveyed by the Observatory 2017), for a total of 12875 employees.

The 5G-CAR consortium includes some of the leading industry players and Tier1 automotive suppliers, including: ASK, COBO, DULEVO e OLMEDO.

Company has been active since 1965 (with the company name Autosonik) in the automotive sector with multiple product lines including antenna systems for connectivity, cables, speakers and audio amplifiers with own design and production in Italy and abroad. ASK is OEM supplier to major global automakers including FCA, PSA, VW, BMW, Mercedes and many others. The headquarters of the Research and Development Antenne is in Reggio Emilia, at the Innovation Park, where all the new product lines are designed and developed in Radiofrequence. Other research centres are in Ancona and Germany, China and Brazil, while production also has offices in Poland and Tunisia, in addition to the other mentioned locations. The ASK group has almost twothousand employees worldwide.

PROJECT-SPECIFIC SKILLS

V2X and 5G automotive application development are part of the company’s roadmap. The company is also interested in engineering the project results and commercializing V2X systems. The structure has highly specialized personnel (16 engineers with degrees in Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechanics, Acoustics and Computer Science) and is equipped with numerous laboratories that allow the development of the product at various levels: characteristics of radiation of the antennas up to millimeter waves in the anecoic chamber, analysis of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), measurements transmission and reception RF signals on 2D and 3D, acoustic characterization in the car and systems.
